What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Cookies are also used for the purposes of analytics (see below).

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Information For Email Subscribers & Members.

What Information We Collect

To receive updates for our content via email you will need to provide us with your email address, and optionally your name. This is also the case for creating a Winglewood Membership.

In addition Membership creation requires you to provide purchase information, including contact information for billing.

How We Collect Subscriber / Member Information

You provide this information to us when you sign up for a Membership, Subscription or to receive content from Winglewood via email.

Email Choices

You can opt out of email updates and marketing emails at anytime. This can be done by utilising the ‘unsubscribe’ link in any email corresdpondance you receive. You also have the option to opt out of specific types of content only. If you have any difficulty in the regard then you can contact us in the usual manner with your opt out request.

Paid Memberships can be cancelled at any time. This can be acheived by following the link in the ‘My Account’ page. You can also contact us through the usual channels is you require any assitance with your cancellation.

How long we use subscriber / member data for?

We will not keep your data for any longer than necessary, to provide you with the service that you have requested or agreed to.

Who will we share your data with?

Third Party Services

We use Active Campaign as an email service to allow us to offer the services that we provide.
Your data is stored on a secure server behind a firewall and only for the purposes required by our business.
The other third-party service providers are used for payment gateways and other payment transaction processors, and have their own privacy policies in respect to the information we are required to provide to them for your purchase-related transactions.
For these providers, we recommend that you read their privacy policies so you can understand the manner in which your personal information will be handled by these providers.
In particular, remember that certain providers may be located in or have facilities that are located a different jurisdiction than either you or us. So if you elect to proceed with a transaction that involves the services of a third-party service provider, then your information may become subject to the laws of the jurisdiction(s) in which that service provider or its facilities are located.

How Do We Protect Your Information?

We take your protection and security very seriously. We implement the use of a secure server on pages where sensitive information is submitted, and it is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology.
We use the service of Stripe to handle payments, and none of the sensitive information ever touches our server.
Stripe is certified to PCI Level 1, the most stringent level of certification.
Your sensitive payment information never reaches our server and as such no record is held by us on our files at all. 
PayPal payments are also processed ‘off site’ meaning that all payment information is handled by PayPal and no sensitive information reaches our servers.

Recurring payment for subscriptions are handled by Stripe or PayPal, and the information is handled to the most stringent levels of security by them, and no sensitive information reaches our servers.
